Sometimes itโs the little things in life that bring us the most joy. Whether you’re sipping your favorite hot drink on a rainy day or your favorite song comes on the radio while youโre running errands, the little things provide moments of joy that can brighten our everyday routines.
And nothing has brightened my everyday routine as much as one particular kitchen item that I bought recently. So today I want to tell you all about it, and explain how such an innocuous purchase has managed to improve my time in the kitchen by such a large margin!

Stainless Steel Mixing Bowl Set With Lids
I recently decided to buy a set of three stainless steel mixing bowls after reading about them on Epicurious. I didnโt necessarily need to replace my current mixing bowls, but I was curious to see if I might like them better.
And honestly, I never anticipated that I would end up loving this set of bowls as much as I do! And here are a few of the specifics on why these particular bowls are so nice to have in the kitchen.
5 Things I Love About These Mixing Bowls

1. The Set Includes 3 Useful Sizes
One thing I like about this set is that each bowl is a different size. You get a 1 1/2-quart bowl, a 3-quart bowl, and a 5-quart bowl, which makes each one useful for a different sort of cooking or baking task.
Between the three sizes, they work perfectly for about 99% of kitchen tasks that require a mixing bowl! (The only time I need to use a different bowl is when Iโm making a huge batch of holiday treatsโthen I use my 12-quart bowl instead.)

2. Each Bowl Has Its Own Lid
Each bowl in the set comes with its own sturdy plastic lid. The lids are so useful when it comes to storing leftovers, chilling doughs or dressings, and more!
It may not seem like a big difference at first, but using a lid rather than covering the bowl with plastic wrap. But snapping a lid on top is so much faster than struggling with plastic wrap, and saves me a lot of frustration!

3. They Have Tall Sides
Mixing something in a shallow bowl can be so frustrating because the food has a tendency to jump out over the sides. But thatโs a non-issue with these bowls, because they have extra tall sides that help keep everything contained!
Another reason why I like the taller profile of these bowls is that they take up less room in my fridge. Wide, shallow bowls take up a ton of space, and I never have much room to spare in my fridge to begin with!

4. Theyโre Lightweight (Yet Sturdy)
While I love the look of ceramic mixing bowls, I donโt love how heavy they are. It makes it more of a chore to pull them out of low or high cupboards when you need them.
But these mixing bowls are made of stainless steel, making them very lightweight! Theyโre easy to take out of any cupboard, even if theyโre nested together.
But if youโre worried about sacrificing sturdiness for a lighter material, never fear! These bowls certainly arenโt flimsy, and they donโt wobble around like some stainless steel bowls tend to do.

5. They Pour Neatly
Itโs hard to anticipate how easily youโll be able to pour something out of any given bowl. But you can rest assured that these bowls work perfectly for pouring!
They have a flat rim that prevents liquids from simply running down the side when youโre trying to pour them into another container. Theyโre much more neat and tidy than other bowls Iโve used in the past.
So if youโre in the market for some new mixing bowls, consider giving this set a try! Theyโve certainly brought more joy into my kitchen, and I know theyโll do the same for you! :-)

Great find! I have 3 stainless bowls that I scored at a discount store but they don’t have lids. I’m going to regift them to one of my daughters and get these for myself!

Found stainless steel easier to handle, lighter in weight and much easier to clean! Amazon has a good price for the set.

They do have all the other features of these AND have small sizes for prep, as well as the larger bowls for mixing and useful for salads. No metal on metal and I don’t have to worry about what utensils I use in them. I can also use them in the microwave. All in all? Well worth the $15 price tag at Marshalls. Much better than the $40 I’ve seen these for.

These bowls sound great! – but sometimes I want to soften butter in the mixing bowl- is using these bowls worth using a separate dish?

I have all sorts of utensils, including metal, which I use in my mixing bowls, and metal on metal sets my teeth on edge, so much so that just thinking of it does the same thing briefly!

If you click on the words โthis setโ in the 2nd paragraph from the end of Jilleeโs blog, you get to the bowls, then click on โavailable from these sellersโ and youโll get to the prices, but the cheapest set is $39!

I agree they are nice bowls however, your largest size is the size of my smallest and I have 3 other professional bowls, each incrementally larger than the last, mine don’t have lids but I have stretchy silicone ones that do the job nicely; so there are pro’s and cons of both styles. I’m a qualified chef and retired lecturer in Hospitality Management & Catering, have disabilities and still do bulk bakes as the baked goods get frozen as soon as cold, then I take something out of the freezer as and when needed.
For about two decades, I began to hate cooking as it was always expected of me at family birthdays/gatherings to do a decorated rich fruit cake and all the catering, making arrangements etc, mostly single handed; cooking at home wasn’t much better either and my then partner was a very picky eater. Thankfully, over the past few years things have improved, I have my catering mojo back (all be it when my disabilities allow) but I enjoy what I can manage to cook as I have the most wonderful husband that appreciates everything I cook, he smiles and his face lights up when he gets his food and looks carefully at what he has, he even helps in the kitchen.

I hope everyone else’s cooking is appreciated.
Love this & it’s in my Amazon shopping cart! Wide shallow bowls are one of my biggest kitchen pet peeves — the other is big “ergonomic” handles on all kitchen gadgets, spatulas etc. these days and they take up sooo much drawer space.
My recommendation/ beloved kitchen item is something I found last autumn when I had tons of peaches and couldn’t bear the thought of blanching them all. I found a Swiss peeler on Amazon that peels peach and tomato skins so easily! It’s slightly serrated and grabs onto everything the first time. Plus– it’s extremely narrow and takes up zero drawer space, unlike my previous OXO Good Grips peelers.

Please log in or create a free account to comment. Also, as I was reading I was hoping you were going to say it had a pour spout. I have one mixing bowl with a spout and it tends to be my go-to bowl just for that reason. I was hoping a brand such as Cuisinart would have thought of that.
Hi Laura,

I always thought ladles were overratedโฆ Until I got one. I have a high temperature silicone one thatโs teal LOL and I love it. I used to use a large measuring cup, this is way better!

Please log in or create a free account to comment. One can never have too many mixing bowls…My mom had a set of metal ones while I was growing up, and probably still has them as they are virtually bulletproof. I have Cuisinart cookware so I’m sure these are good ones. And the point about pourability is not to be taken lightly! I have two small glass mixing bowls that are graduated but have no rims, and they are useful but trying to pour out of them is a nightmare.
